DMI Down in January, Outlook Still Positive

DMI Drops 5.1% in January
After a strong 4th quarter in 2017, The Dodge Momentum Index began 2018 with a dip, landing at 143.7, a 5.1% drop from December’s reading of 151.5. According to Dodge Analytics, five projects valued at $100 million or more entered the planning stage in January.
Despite the decline, both commercial and institutional activity were up 7.7% from January 2017, and moderate gains are expected to be made throughout the year.
