Dodge Momentum Index Gains in June

DMI Approaching Ten-Year High

June marked the fifth straight monthly increase for the Dodge Momentum Index, a measure of nonresidential construction projects in planning.

The commercial component rose 1.1% while the institutional component made a smaller 0.3% gain. Overall, the Index grew 0.8% in June bringing it to 165.5, up from the revised May count of 164.2. Construction activity is expected to continue strengthening through the end of 2018.
