Architectural Billings Strengthen in March
The Architecture Billings Index score for February was 55.6, gaining 2.3 points from the February reading.
“As business activity at architecture firms moves sharply toward recovery, it is very encouraging to simultaneously see such positive indicators of future project work increasing in the pipeline,” said AIA Chief Economist Kermit Baker, PhD, Hon. AIA.
In March the project inquiries index was 66.9, up from 61.2 the previous month. The design contracts index was 55.7, up from 51.6.
Regional averages all made gains in March.

Baker added, “The activity architecture firms are seeing is a positive bellwether not only for the construction outlook, but also for the larger economy.”
